Construction worker hit by car on Long Street, driver impaired by sun, dirty windshield
A construction worker was struck Wednesday morning by a vehicle in which the driver told officers he couldn’t see through his windshield because of the sun, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
The accident happened in the 1500 block of East Long Street at 7:10 a.m. The construction worker was taken by ambulance to Renown Medical Center where he was treated for a broken foot.
The injured ARMAC Construction worker was in a coned area digging when the accident happened. He was struck by the front bumper of the small vehicle, said Carson City Sheriff’s Deputy Bob Motamenpour.
The driver told deputies he did not see the construction worker when he went through the cones and a fence, hitting the worker. He told the officer his vision was obstructed because of the sun and that his windshield wasn’t clean. The driver was cited.
