NHP: One dead in Lake Tahoe crash that shut down Highway 50
UPDATE: One person died in a vehicle crash in Zephyr Cove at Lake Tahoe across from the Tahoe Douglas Fire Station Sunday afternoon, confirmed Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Barbara Stapleton.
At least three others were injured, according to NHP dispatchers. Both lanes of Highway 50 were closed.
One victim was taken by ground ambulance to Carson City where they were transported by Calstar. The crash was reported to NHP at 2:55 p.m. at 875 Highway 50. The vehicles involved were blocking both lanes of traffic, according to the dispatcher.
NHP advised that traffic was backed up in both direction and motorists were encouraged to take alternate routes.
The condition of those injured was not available by NHP dispatch.
