Carson City arrests: Battery suspect resists officers, kicks deputy in leg

A Carson City woman was arrested Saturday, June 5 for suspicion of felony and misdemeanor battery, and three counts resisting a public officer, according to a sheriff's office booking report.
Jessica Brophy, 27, was booked into Carson City Jail after she allegedly kicked a deputy in the leg as she resisted officers once she had been placed under arrest for misdemeanor battery and resisting.
According to the booking report, officers were called to a North Sutro Terrace residence for a battery. Officers invested and learned the suspect, Brophy, had an altercation in which she allegedly pushed and punched a female in the face. Officers observed a visible mark on the victim's left cheek.
The victim said she defended herself by grabbing the suspect's arms and pushing her off of her. Officers learned there was a struggle, and a television in the living room as knocked to the ground. The suspect allegedly fell to the ground multiple times during the incident, and she had injuries consistent with falling to the ground, according to the booking report.
Following the altercation the victim called 911. She advised she wanted to press charges against the suspect.
Officers spoke with the suspect, who said she fell on the ground and that no fight happened and it was the female that pushed her. The suspect, who advised she had been drinking for two days, submitted to a preliminary breath test of .279. She was asked if she had punched or pushed the victim.
The suspect stated she did not wish to speak. She was arrested for suspicion of battery. The woman said she did not want to go to jail and began to pull away and resisted the arresting deputy. She argued with deputies and eventually was seated in a patrol vehicle.
Based on the woman's high level of intoxication and injuries she was taken to the hospital for medical clearance. Upon arrival the woman began to pull away from a deputy. An additional deputy was called to the scene. The woman calmed down once an ER doctor came outside, the report states.
After she was medically cleared, she became uncooperative with deputies, dragging herself and pulling way. She kicked an officer in his right thigh area as she was being placed into a patrol vehicle, according to the report. She was booked for suspicion of felony battery by a prisoner, misdemeanor battery and three counts misdemeanor resisting a public officer. Bail: $30,000.
In other arrests:
— A 43-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday 7:56 p.m. in the 2000 block of Table Rock Drive for suspicion of domestic battery, a misdemeanor.
According to the booking report, deputies were dispatched to a residence after dispatch advised a woman could be heard screaming in the background and that there was a heated argument.
A deputy arrived at the scene and observed a woman who was sitting in a vehicle outside a residence. Her face was swollen and blood was coming from her nose. Deputies were advised she and a man were arguing when the man became upset that the woman wouldn't give him anymore money for alcohol. The man allegedly punched the woman in the face twice, according to the report.
A CCSO deputy interviewed the intoxicated man, who had difficulty standing and slurred his words. He told deputies he was drinking alcohol all day and did not know what happened. The officer informed him of the battery. The man was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.
— A 29-year-old Carson City woman, Estephanie Godinez, was arrested Sunday, 9:24 a.m. for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail listed: $1,137.
— A 38-year-old man was arrested early Monday for misdemeanor suspicion of a second DUI, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
According to the booking report, at 1:31 a.m. a deputy observed a vehicle eastbound on Eagle Station Lane that did not have a working license plate light. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle for the infraction.
The officer made contact with the driver, and could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. The driver was asked to exit the vehicle, where the deputy could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person. The man was asked to submit to field sobriety tests, in which he agreed. He showed signs of impairment and provided a preliminary breath test of .275. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI second. At jail he provided evidentiary blood draws. Bail: $2,500.
— A 36-year-old Carson City man was arrested at 12:43 a.m. Monday for a gross misdemeanor warrant alleging contempt of court, issued out of Washoe County, and a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued out of Carson City Municipal Court. Bail for the Washoe County warrant, $20,000 and bail for the Carson City warrant, $3,000.
— A 61-year-old Silver Springs man was arrested Sunday, 9:32 p.m. in the 800 block of South Carson Street for a misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence warrant issued Oct. 10, 2005 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.
