Final reminder of Nevada’s 2011 Free Fishing Day
CARSON CITY — This is a final reminder that Saturday, June 11 is Nevada’s Free Fishing Day for the year 2011.
On that day, you can fish anywhere you want, and you will not need to have a Nevada fishing license or a Nevada Trout Stamp or a Nevada Second Rod Stamp. However, you will need to abide by whatever the rules and regulations are for whatever water(s) you will fish on that special day.
If you would like to fish on June 11, be advised that the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) will have planted many thousands of rainbow trout in our Western Nevada waters.
So, here are a number of nearby fishing destinations that you might want to try on that magical date of June 11:
— The main Carson River, east of Carson City
— The East Carson River south of Gardnerville
— Davis Creek Pond in Washoe County’s Davis Creek Park
— Hobart Reservoir which is between Carson City and Lake Tahoe
— Lahontan Reservoir
— Lake Tahoe
— Martin Slough in Gardnerville
— Sparks Marina along I-80 in Sparks
— Spooner Lake at Spooner Summit on U.S. 50
— Topaz Lake on U.S. 395 at the Nevada-California stateline
— Truckee River in Washoe County
— Virginia Lake in Reno
— Wilson Common Pond, south of Bowers Mansion
Finally
Be advised that the State of California DOES NOT have a Free Fishing Day on the same date as Nevada.
California has not one, but two Free Fishing Days. In 2011, they will be on July 04 (Fourth of July) and Sept. 05 (Labor Day).
Also, be advised:
June 11 is NOT a Free Fishing Day at Pyramid Lake, as that lake in on the Pyramid Lake Indian Reservation.
June 11 is NOT a Free Fishing Day at Weber Reservoir as that reservoir is on the Schurz Indian Reservation.
