Carson City Supervisors to discuss City Center ballot question
The City Center aka Nugget Project ballot question will go before the Carson City Board of Supervisors for discussion on June 7.
The board last month directed staff to work on wording for a ballot question to seek approval from voters for a quarter cent sales tax increase to fund the project. Now that question will be coming back to the board to decide whether to place it on the ballot.
The proposed question reads as follows:
CARSON CITY BALLOT QUESTION NO. 1. This question is advisory only: Do you support an increase in the sales tax in the amount of 1/4 of 1 percent for the purpose of designing, constructing, operating and maintaining of a Knowledge and Discovery Center library and public plaza park on lands donated to the city by the Hop and Mae Adams Foundation?
See more details about the ballot question below.
Also up for discussion by the board will be an item to defer lease payments by Carson City Municipal Golf Corporation to the city for Eagle Valley Golf Course, which in recent years has been unable to make payments due to what the operator says is poor economic conditions.
The meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center. The ballot question discussion is scheduled for the afternoon session beginning at 2 p.m.
