Northern Nevada Development Authority, Adams Hub of Northern Nevada, and Carson City Downtown Business Association announced Thursday a joint promotion program focused on downtown Carson City businesses.

The last Thursday of November means a big gobble gobble, Happy Thanksgiving to all. Enjoy in the games, festivities, activities at home and outdoors. Events are at a minimum, for obvious reasons, but the two big ones are traditions for us in the capital city. The Carson City Turkey Trot at the Governor's Mansion and the free Carson Nugget Thanksgiving community dinner. Enjoy your day and any slight break in the weather. More winter storms are on the way.

Northern Nevada Development Authority has relocated its offices to downtown Carson City inside Adams Hub of Northern Nevada, 308 North Curry Street, Suite 101.

New 'Business Retention and Expansion' program under review between Carson City Library, NNDA, and Adams Hub

A Joint Operating Agreement is currently under review between the Carson City Library, the Northern Nevada Development Authority, and Adams Hub, to create and manage a “Business Retention and Expansion” program.

At the Board of Supervisor’s meeting on Aug. 1, a presentation was held to discuss a possible joint contract between the three entities, for the creation of a Business Retention and Expansion program, which would be funded by the Hop and Mae Adams Foundation.

Carson City Student-Owned-and-Run 'Rehaul' is a showcase in applied entrepreneurial lessons

Jeff Glass has been teaching entrepreneurial classes to the youth of Carson City for years, and now, as his students grow up, they’re branching out to run businesses of their own.

One such student is Paul Klemm, the owner of Carson City’s Rehaul.

“Rehaul started as an effort to develop a student run business,” said Glass.

Andrew, better known as Andy, was born on his family’s ranch in Yerington, Nevada. He was the fourth of five children of Albert “Burr” and Marion, including Al, Fred, Madeline and Mary Lou.

Andy enjoyed his upbringing in Yerington, making friends, working on ranches, playing football, excelling in scholastics and having more than his share of fun. His accolades from high school included being elected Governor of Boys State and later being inducted into the Yerington High Football Hall of Fame.

Carson City author launches crowdfunding campaign for entrepreneurship children’s book series

Carson City author and entrepreneur, Jeff Glass, launched a crowdfunding campaign via Indiegogo this week to raise funds for publishing his new children’s book series on social entrepreneurship. The campaign can be found here.

Glass, who describes himself as a “serial entrepreneur,” is known in Northern Nevada for teaching social entrepreneurship to local youth through the Carson City Juvenile Probation Office and formerly through the Hop and Mae Adams Foundation. He is currently the executive director for the Youth Entrepreneur Syndicate in Reno.

The Hop and Mae Adams Foundation was joined by local dignitaries to break ground Wednesday on a much-anticipated, mixed-use project in Carson City’s downtown historic district.

The parcel bounded by Curry, Nevada, Telegraph and Proctor streets will soon be graced by a handsome, historically-inspired three-story complex that will include more than 10,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, 11,000 square feet of office space and 10 upscale apartments.
