Carson City sheriff's bookings: Woman jailed for DUI causing substantial bodily harm warrant

A 22-year-old woman was booked into jail Thursday for a felony warrant alleging DUI causing substantial bodily harm, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Taylor Nicole Chandler of Grants Pass, Ore., was taken into custody after she arrived at the front counter of the sheriff’s office to turn herself into authorities in reference to two warrants. The other warrant was for misdemeanor failure to provide proof of community service.

The felony warrant is out of Carson City Justice Court in reference to an NHP warrant charge of DUI alcohol or drugs resulting in substantial bodily harm, a category B felony. Bail: $51,000.

In other arrests:
— A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 1:23 a.m. in the 1700 block of Camille for misdemeanor violation of a suspended sentence warrant, destruction of property and disorderly conduct.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the area for a report of an intoxicated subject. Deputies were advised the man had an active warrant out of Carson City Justice Court. Arriving deputies could hear the man yelling from multiple houses away from the residence where he was at, the arrest report states.

Deputies arrived and saw the man sitting against a garage door with his dog. The deputy instructed the man to show his hands. The man complied. The warrant check was made again through dispatch which returned as active. The warrant was for violation of a suspended sentence and was issued out of Carson City Justice Court on May 4, 2017.

The man was taken into custody based on the warrant. He became verbally argumentative and began hitting his head on the cage in the back of the patrol vehicle and continued to yell. He was transported to jail and released to detention deputies. During the investigation, deputies learned the man had earlier caused damage to a storm door of a residence. Bail: $3,879.

— A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 4:06 a.m. in the 2700 block of North Carson Street for misdemeanor probation condition violations and minor consuming.
According to the arrest report, a deputy stopped a vehicle speeding, 35 in a posted 25. The deputy met with the driver and the front passenger, who the deputy advised he could smell the odor of alcohol.

He asked the passenger if he had consumed alcohol and the man advised he had consumed alcohol that evening. He submitted to a preliminary breath test with a result of .141. Alternative sentencing was advised of the situation and ordered the officer to place him on hold for violation of conditions. Bail: $3,242.

— A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday in the 800 block of Travis Drive for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, at 8:21 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a residence for a report of a domestic battery in progress.

An officer spoke with the victim and learned the couple, who were drinking wine with dinner, began to arguing after the woman advised the man to stop drinking because he had become intoxicated and when he becomes intoxicated he gets angry.

The victim told the deputy the man became upset, pushed her as she was carrying their child, and then she said he told her to put the child down “before I bash your head into the wall,” the arrest report states. She advised the man grabbed the phone out of her hand and threw it against the wall.

The man told deputies that he was drinking, that the two got into a verbal argument but was not sure what it was about. He said when he and the woman were in the back bedroom, he slapped the phone out of her hand, according to the arrest report. The man was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.

— A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 10:46 a.m. in the area of Highway 50 and State Street for two misdemeanor contempt of court warrants issued Feb. 1, 2017.

— A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 3:34 p.m. in the area of North Carson and Park streets for a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued April 25, 2017 out of Reno Justice Court. Bail: $5,000.

— A 46-year-old Reno man was booked into jail Wednesday, 4:20 p.m. for a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued March 29, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $5,000.
