Carson City deputies arrest woman wanted for credit card fraud
A 34-year-old transient with a criminal history involving fraud was arrested by Carson City authorities after giving them a false name.
Helen Holguin, 34, faces felony charges of credit card fraud, breaking probation and a misdemeanor charge of obstructing. She is being held without bail at the Carson City Jail.
On May 10 at about 11:12 p.m. a vehicle was pulled over by a Carson City deputy on West Long and South Carson streets because it didn't have a license plate. According to the arrest report, the passenger in the car had acted suspicious, clutching a large purse.
The officer asked the woman for identification. Holquin told the deputy that it had been stolen. She then told the officer her name was Michelle and that she didn't know her Social Security number. When the officer asked the woman what her birthday was, she blurted out "oh s*** uhh, 09/21/74."
The officer felt that, judging by the woman's reaction, she was lying to him, according to the arrest report.
Another deputy arrived at the scene. The woman then held out a driver's license with her correct name on it and told the arresting officer "I have a warrant."
Dispatch confirmed that the warrant was for unlawful use of a credit card, with a no-bail hold. Holguin was also on state probation and admitted to officers that she had been out after the established curfew, drinking at a local casino. She submitted to a breath test and blew a .121, according to the arrest report.
Holguin was taken to jail.
