Box with wire, cable found at Carson City church parking lot prompts bomb squad safety check
An unidentified box with a wire sticking out of it was discovered Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Community on Lompa Lane, prompting the Carson City Sheriff's Office to contact the Tahoe Douglas Bomb Squad due to the suspicion nature of the package.
The box, which was determined to have electronic wires and coaxial cable inside of it and was found not explosive, was discovered in the parking lot area and not in the church. It was unidentified at the time it was found, which was why caution was exercised, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.
"No harm, no foul. Just someone who forgot to pick up their box of wire and cable," said the sheriff.
