Carson City arrests: Traffic stop leads to arrest for weapon offense, psilocybin mushrooms
A 36-year-old Stagecoach man was arrested Wednesday for alleged drug and weapon offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Lee Mitchell Bradford was taken into custody at 8:20 a.m. in the area of Research Way and College Parkway. He was booked for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance of more than 14 grams, possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription, prohibited person with a firearm and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the report a deputy made a traffic stop after observing a vehicle go through a red traffic light.
The deputy made contact with the driver who was identified by his license. The man advised he had a loaded firearm on his right hip. The officer asked if he had a CCW permit and the man replied no. The deputy asked the man to place both hands on the steering wheel. The deputy then asked him to reach over with his left hand and unbuckle his seat belt. The man did as he was asked and cooperated with commands, the report states.
The man stepped out of the vehicle, where the officer removed the firearm from the man's person.
The deputy did a records check and was informed him he was going to be issued a citation. The officer asked the man if there were any narcotics in the vehicle. The man said no. The officer asked the man for consent to search the vehicle. The man said no. A deputy requested a second unit, where K-9 Cash was deployed and conducted an exterior vehicle sniff.
The dog alerted positive on the passenger side lower door. The officer conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle, locating a large bag of psilocybin mushrooms, the report states. The deputy conducted a search of the man's person and located pills identified as Percocet and a tooter straw, (commonly used to inhale narcotics) in the man's right front pocket. Bail: $10,000.

— A 29-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for gross misdemeanor suspicion of obstructing and resisting with force and misdemeanor obstructing with false statements.
According to the arrest reports deputies were dispatched to the 3300 block of South Carson Street for a report of battery.
Deputies located the suspect, who was seen walking through a parking lot. The man was verbally uncooperative, refused to identify himself, and refused to obey commands given to him.
After several minute talking with the man, the officer attempted to detain him by placing him in wrist restraints. The man resisted, with the deputy able to overpower his attempts to resist and placed him in cuffs.
The man continued to be both physically and verbally uncooperative and had to be escorted and forced into the backseat of a patrol vehicle. Deputies spoke with the subjects involved with the battery who said they did not want to pursue criminal charges. Bail: $2,912.
