Weekend Carson City arrests made for drugs, domestic battery, probation violation

A 27-year-old man was arrested Saturday for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and three misdemeanors, including a warrant out of Reno Township Court, expired registration and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

According to the arrest report, deputies made a traffic stop on a white Cadillac Escalade in the 700 block of Old Clear Creek Road that didn’t have license plates. During the stop, an officer observed the passenger in the vehicle holding license plates. The passenger stated the plates were expired and he removed them.

Deputies contacted a canine unit for an exterior vehicle drug sniff, which came back positive. During a search of the vehicle, officers located two meth pipes, a scale with black tar residue, a “tooter” straw with black tar residue and a small amount of black tar substance located in the center console of the vehicle in a green plastic container. A scale and small amount of methamphetamine were found in the passenger’s side door.

Both the passenger, James Monts, and driver Puyan Shahsavari, 27, of Reno, were arrested at 9:41 p.m.

— A 46-year-old transient was arrested Sunday, 9:46 p.m. in the 300 block of South Carson Meadows for misdemeanor violation of pretrial supervision. According to the arrest report, the woman was in violation of her 9 p.m. curfew established through the Department of Alternative Sentencing. Bail: $3,000.

— A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 9:01 p.m. in the area of Ediza Circle for two misdemeanor warrants for violation of a suspended sentence. The warrants were issued Feb. 23, 2016 and March 29, 2016. Bail: $2,000.

— A 36-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 8:05 a.m. in the area of North Carson Street and East Park for misdemeanor suspicion, violation of probation. According to the arrest report, the man had been drinking, a violation of probation conditions through the Department of Alternative Sentencing. Bail: $3,000.

— A 26-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 1:41 a.m. in the area of North Carson Street and Telegraph for misdemeanor suspicion of violation of a suspended sentence, disorderly conduct, drunken pedestrian and obstructing. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the area to investigate a possible domestic situation where two people were arguing in the street.

Deputies spoke with a male and female. The woman refused to give deputies her identification. She was asked several times and refused to comply with the order and was arrested. Dispatch advised she was on Alternative Sentencing, which in turn advised to arrest her for being in violation. She provided a preliminary breath test of .149. Bail: $1,726.

— A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 9:04 p.m. in the area of Brentwood Drive and Meadowbrook Lane for misdemeanor suspicion of violation of bail conditions. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the scene for a suspicious vehicle and an unresponsive man slumped in the driver’s seat.

Deputies made contact with the man who said he was sleeping in the car. The officer could smell and odor of alcohol on the man. He was asked how much he had to drink. The man replied nothing, and said he had taken some NyQuil about an hour and a half prior, the arrest report states.

Deputies were informed the man was on Alternative Sentencing with a “no alcohol” clause. The man provided a preliminary breath test with a result of .146 and was arrested for suspicion of violation. Bail: $3,000.

— A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 7:38 p.m., in the area of Fairview and Pheasant Drive for misdemeanor suspicion of failure to appear in traffic court and expired registration. Bail: $247.

— A 41-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 1:15 p.m. in the area of North Carson and Washington streets for misdemeanor suspicion of impeding traffic, resisting arrest, coercion and destruction of property.

According to the arrest report, a deputy responded to a report of a man holding a sign and jumping in and out in front of traffic on North Carson Street. Deputies arrived on scene and observed a man matching the description holding a white piece of paper and jumping in and out of southbound traffic near Washington and North Carson Street.

By the time the deputy caught up to him, several cars had to make an abrupt left turn to avoid hitting the subject. The deputy instructed the man to stop and come toward the officer. The man refused and began running northbound in the southbound lane in heavy traffic.

He then began to cross Washington Street. The officer chased him and called out for him to stop. He refused and continued to run, and then tripped over his own foot and fell down. He did not suffer any injuries. The officer placed him into custody for impeding traffic and resisting arrest. The officer realized the man may be suffering from a mental issue and had been contacted earlier in the day for breaking the cell phone of a parent. Bail: $2,983.

— A 45-year-old Carson City woman was arrested early Saturday morning at 12:04 a.m. in the 700 block of Old Hot Springs Road for misdemeanor first offense domestic battery on a family member, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

The woman was taken into custody after law enforcement responded to a report of domestic battery. According to the report, the victim stated she was trying to help her disabled father, but was blocked from entering the bedroom by her step-mother, who had been drinking.

The victim reported to the sheriff's deputy that the woman had grabbed her shoulder and pulled her hair. A scuffle ensued as the victim tried to defend herself, the victim stated.

Both the suspect and the victim ended up on the floor during the physical altercation. The victim's father called police at that point, the report said.

The responding deputy observed numerous scratches on her arms and face, the report said.

The suspect was observed by law enforcement to be highly intoxicated, displaying red, watery eyes and difficulty standing. Her speech was also slow and slurred. She admitted to consuming alcohol and also using marijuana.

She could not recall details of the altercation when questioned by the deputy. She was subsequently placed in handcuffs and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $3,000.

— A 32-year-old Incline Village woman was taken into custody Friday, 9 p.m. at the Carson City Jail for misdemeanor violation of a suspended sentence, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

According to the report, the woman was a transfer from the Washoe County Jail to the Carson City Jail on an outstanding arrest warrant issued out of the Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

— A 29-year-old Carson City man was taken into custody Friday night at 9 p.m. at the Carson City Jail for misdemeanor violation of a suspended sentence, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

According to the report, the man was a transfer from the Washoe County Jail to the Carson City Jail on an outstanding arrest warrant issued out of the Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.

— A 36-year-old Carson City man was taken into custody Friday, 9 p.m. at the Carson City Jail for multiple misdemeanor contempt of court warrants as well as violation of a suspended sentence, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

According to the report, the man was a transfer from the Washoe County Jail to the Carson City Jail on multiple outstanding arrest warrants issued out of the Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,391.
