Carson City deputies make domestic battery arrests
A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday for felony suspicion of preventing a victim from reporting a crime and misdemeanor domestic battery, a sheriff’s deputy said.
Shane Kenneth Harlan was arrested at 11:22 p.m. at a Lilly Drive residence. According to the arrest report, the man allegedly threw a cell phone that belonged to the victim when she attempted to call for help during an argument.
A deputy observed a hole in the northern wall of the living room and placed the phone next to the hole and confirmed the phone fit consistent with the hole in the wall. The deputy notes that while inspecting the phone he found drywall particles in the phone case, the arrest report states.
The man stated there was an argument and stated he did not make any physical contact with the victim during the argument. The victim stated she did not have any visual injuries, the arrest report states.
The deputy asked the man how the hole in the wall happened. The man stated he did not remember and denied throwing the phone or having knowledge of the hole. He was arrested based on the deputy’s investigation. Total bail listed: $8,000.
In other arrests:
— A 32-year-old Carson City woman was arrested early Wednesday in the 1700 block of Wendy Lane for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery and a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued March 8, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the area for a report of two females arguing outside a residence.
Deputies arrived and made contact with one of the women, the suspect, who was sitting in a vehicle outside the residence. She told the officer she had an argument with her girlfriend and claimed it was not physical.
Deputies found the victim who had a large hematoma accompanied with redness and swelling around her left eye and a small superficial laceration on her left hand. Deputies learned the two had an argument over money that became physically combative, when the 32-year-old suspect allegedly punched the victim in the face with a closed fist, the arrest report states.
In a followup interview with the suspect, she told the deputy the victim punched her in the face five times. The suspect didn’t have any marks or swelling indicating she was battered. She was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery and a failure to appear warrant. Bail: $4,137.
— A 41-year-old Carson City man, Daniel Morse, was booked into Carson City Jail on Tuesday, 8:20 p.m. for a felony parole and probation warrant. He’s being held without bail in lieu of a hearing.
— A 29-year-old man was arrested Tuesday, 10:05 p.m. in the area of Fall and Musser streets for suspicion of being a drunken pedestrian.
According to the arrest report, deputies were called to Telegraph Street bar after a man was kicked out of the establishment and refused to leave.
When deputies arrived bar patrons pointed to the man who was causing problems. The man then ran away and was subsequently caught. He was asked what happened at the bar.
The man was highly intoxicated and swayed while standing, and could not maintain balance. He provided a preliminary breath test of .280. He stated he didn’t have cab fare money and said his intentions were to walk home.
He refused to provide an accurate address of where he was planning on walking to and was arrested. Bail: $72.
