Explore the comet phenomenon at WNC lecture Saturday
Just what is a comet, and how does it work? The Western Nevada College Jack C. Davis Observatory invites the public to a free lecture about comets on Saturday, March 12, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Popular speaker Mike Thomas will share his knowledge about these mysterious and beautiful visitors from the outer reaches of the Solar System. Famous comets from the past and more recent events will be discussed, along with the mythological beliefs associated to them.
Doors open at 6 p.m. The Jack C. Davis Observatory is located at 2699 Van Patten Drive in north Carson City, just west of the Western Nevada College campus. Star viewing will also be available, weather permitting.
