Dayton Advisory Board to hear proposal for 100-acre Lyon County Government Center on Dayton Valley Road
The purpose of this proposed change, according to Lyon County Manager Jeff Page, is to build a centralized government center for Dayton.
The meeting will take place at the Lyon County Office Complex at 34 Lakes Blvd. in Dayton, beginning at 7 p.m.

Eleven years ago, Lyon County purchased the property for approximately $80,000.
“Prior to the purchase and the Great Recession, the land was slated for housing development,” said Page. “Lyon County is currently in the design phase to build a centralized government center for Dayton.”
The government center would provide a new home for the Dayton Justice Court, a Lyon County Sheriff’s Office substation, Lyon County District Attorney offices, and Human Service offices.
“Currently, Lyon County is paying for the leases of LCSO, LCDA, and LCHS,” said Page.
Lyon County, who is the applicant for this agenda item, will present their request to the Citizen Advisory Board, the Planning Commission, and County Commission.
“This property will allow the County to provide other county departments, local and state governments to build offices in a central location,” said Page. “Our goal is for residents in the Dayton Area to have one location to conduct business with government agencies that provide services to them.”
The Master Plan Amendment would change land use designation on three total parcels, spanning approximately 102.71 acres generally located at 600 Dayton Valley Road.
