Carson City arrests: Suspect denies threats, admits huffing fumes inside ride share vehicle

A 20-year-old woman was arrested Sunday in the area of Koontz and Carson streets for suspicion of misdemeanor threats and harassment, and violation of alternative sentencing conditions following an incident involving a ride sharing service driver, a Carson City sheriff's deputy report states.

According to the arrest report, officers were alerted by dispatch to a 911 call where the reporting party advised their mother was a ride sharing driver and contacted him. Dispatch then made contact with the driver who sounded scared, and told dispatch she was unable to speak. Questions were asked in which the woman was able to report yes or no.

Dispatch located the vehicle, which had stopped. The driver got out of the vehicle, stated the passenger was doing drugs and had threatened to cut her throat with a knife. The driver said she did not see any weapons, the report states.

A deputy approached the passenger side window. The suspect complied with commands and exited the vehicle, was detained, and gave consent to search her pockets. No weapons were located on her person or inside the vehicle, the arrest report states.

The deputy spoke with the suspect, who said she did not have any recollection of threatening the driver. She said she took the ride share service to visit her boyfriend in Carson City but doesn't remember making any threats.

She then admitted she was huffing fumes in the back of the vehicle. Deputies located a can of computer spray dust located on the back passenger floor board in the same area where the suspect was seated. Dispatch was advised the suspect is on Alternative Sentencing in Douglas County. The woman was arrested.

Officers learned the driver was taking the suspect from Reno to Jacks Valley Road in Douglas County. While driving, the woman requested the ride sharing service driver to stop at Walmart. The suspect went inside and came back out a few minutes later.

As the driver entered the freeway she told the deputy she heard what sounded like hairspray in the back of the vehicle. The driver told the officer that she looked back and saw the woman take something out of her shirt, sucked on it and then began speaking gibberish and said multiple times "I'm going to cut your throat bitch," report states.

The driver said she wanted to press charges for threats and harassment. The woman was taken to jail. Bail: $3,637.

In other arrests:
— A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Monday in the area of Windridge and Peakwood for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI.

According to the arrest report, deputies were advised there were two juveniles passed out in a vehicle near Blackwell's Pond Park. Deputies arrived and observed a vehicle parked with two passenger tires on the curb. The vehicle was running and the driver side door was open, with the male driver in the front seat with his head resting on his chest and female driver passed out in the passenger seat.

A deputy was able to wake the driver, who had an odor of alcohol. Deputies asked if he had been drinking and the man replied a few sips earlier. He agreed to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test of .152 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. At jail he provided evidentiary tests of .128 and .130. Bail: $1,137.

— Two were arrested Sunday in the area of I-580 and Arrowhead for suspicion of possession of methamphetamine. Arrested were Daniel Duckworth, 37, and Brittany Marie Ludington, 27.

According to the arrest report, a Carson City sheriff's sergeant made a traffic stop on a vehicle that failed to stop at a posted stop sign at Retail and College Parkway. The vehicle got onto the freeway where the officer activated his emergency lights. The vehicle slowed and moved to the right but continued around a half mile before turning off on Arrowhead, then stopping at the bottom of the offramp.

The officer made contact with the driver and passenger and advised of the stop. The driver admitted to not stopping at the stop sign. He told deputies that he did not have a license and the woman said the had plan to switch drivers since Duckworth didn't have a license. Dispatch advised the man's license was suspended.

A K9 alerted positive on the vehicle and a vehicle search was conducted where officers located a full syringe with suspected methamphetamine inside. The two were arrested for suspicion of possession of methamphetamine. Duckworth also was charged with driving on a suspended driver's license.

— A 49-year-old California man, Eleno Arreola-Castillo was arrested Sunday in the 1300 block of East William Street for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor fictitious registration, driving without a valid license and no insurance.

According to the arrest report, a traffic stop was made on a vehicle with expired registration. A VIN check of the vehicle was done and license plates came back as fictitious. Dispatch advised the driver's California license was either suspended or revoked. The man gave officers consent to search the vehicle. A deputy located suspected methamphetamine rolled up in a dollar bill in the center console inside the vehicle. Bail: $3,250.

— A 66-year-old man was arrested Sunday in the 2800 block of South Carson Street for a violation of suspended sentence warrant issued Feb. 27. Bail: $1,000.
