Carson City man jailed after domestic battery victim jumps from moving vehicle

A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday after a domestic dispute in which the victim said she was hit by the man and then to get away from him, jumped out of the moving vehicle he was driving, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

The victim said the vehicle, a Jeep Cherokee, was traveling around 25 mph when she jumped out to escape the man. She told officers she struck the ground and began tumbling. The suspect then got out of the vehicle and attempted to grab the woman but she escaped and took off running, according to the arrest report.

A female witness, who saw what happened, allowed the female victim to get into her blue SUV and they drove away. The suspect then began chasing them. As soon as the victim and driver saw a sheriff’s patrol vehicle nearby, the suspect turned away from them.

Officers located the man and arrested him at 9:15 a.m. on misdemeanor charges of domestic battery and having a failure to appear warrant out of Reno Township Justice Court. Bail: $4,542.

In other arrests: A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 1:20 a.m. in the area of Michael and Norrie streets on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and failure to maintain a lane of traffic.
According to the arrest report, officers arrived in the area regarding a traffic incident at the corner of Nye Lane and Mountain Street in which the driver took off running after hitting a curb.

A Capital Police officer located the man. He admitted he had been drinking and could not keep his balance. The man said he had two beers, the arrest report states.

He participated in field sobriety tests showing signs of impairment. He refused to do a one leg stand and preliminary breath test. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI and taken to jail. Bail: $1,224.

— A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Friday morning, 12:44 a.m., on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI, open container, having no proof of insurance and violation of bail conditions, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, officers observed a black Mercedes driving in the area of North Carson and Winnie Lane with a broken tail light.

The officer made a traffic stop. The driver told the officer he didn’t have his insurance or registration. A check through dispatch showed he is on Alternative Sentencing with a “no alcohol, drugs paraphernalia with search and seizure for all,” according to the arrest report.
The man emitted an odor of alcohol on his breath.

Officers asked how much he had to drink and the man replied he had two drinks. He agreed to submit to standardized field sobriety tests in which he showed signs of impairment, the arrest report states.

He blew a preliminary breath test above .08 and was arrested. At jail he gave evidentiary samples of .102 and .111. Bail: $5,066.

— A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 9:25 p.m. in the 700 block of Hot Springs Road on misdemeanor suspicion, possession of drug paraphernalia. According to the arrest report, officers responded to the area after two men were trespassing at Walmart.

Officers located the pair in the 700 block of Pine Lane sitting on a bench with a meth pipe next to them. The man denied the pipe was his, openly stating: “I don’t smoke meth. I only buy meth from people,” according to the arrest report. Bail: $1,137.

— A 45-year-old Carson City woman, Melanie Ann Sandomierski, was arrested Thursday, 6:18 p.m. in the 100 block of East Adams a felony charge of being in possession of prescription drugs without a prescription and misdemeanor possession of a meth pipe.

Parole and Probation made contact with the woman who appeared under the influence. Officers asked if they could look in her bag. She agreed and inside was a glass lightbulb with meth residue, a “tooter straw” commonly used to inhale drugs, as well as hydrocodone, and alprazolam in which she did not have a prescription. Bail: $3,632.

— A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 9:19 p.m. in the 700 block of Market Street on misdemeanor charges of trespassing and violation of a suspended sentence. The man was seen inside Walmart after he had been told not to return. He was on Alternative Sentencing for shoplifting at Walmart. Bail: $1,242.

— A 29-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday, 9:21 a.m. in two misdemeanor warrant charges for failure to appear, issued out of Tahoe Township Justice Court and Reno Justice Court. Bail: $1,855.

Those arrested and facing criminal charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
