California fugitive convicted of sexual assault on a minor captured in Douglas County
Douglas County authorities have arrested a California fugitive from justice who was convicted of sexual assault on a minor.
Rick David Oliver, 47, of Yuba County, Calif., was captured by Douglas County Sheriff's authorities and the FBI on Friday afternoon after he was located in the 1100 block of Linda Anne Court in the east valley area of Gardnerville, said Douglas County Undersheriff Paul Howell.
The law agencies learned that Oliver was at the location, recently having fled California to avoid sentencing and capture from law enforcement, Howell said.
When contacted by authorities, Oliver fled the residence on foot and was chased by several officers, Howell said.
Following a short foot chase and struggle with officers Oliver was taken into custody and booked into the Douglas County Jail. He is being held without bail as a fugitive from justice on the charges and has prior felony convictions for narcotics and sex offenses.
A second man, Adrian Dave Froid, 41, of Reno, was also arrested and booked for suspicion of obstructing and delaying an officer. Bail was set at $637.
