The Vagina Monologues featured in Carson City this Friday and Saturday
The cast this year for the Carson City Vagina Monologues is small, but mighty. Eight women will take the stage to perform and raise money for Advocates to End Domestic Violence. The show, which is in its fifth year in Carson City runs February 10 and 11 at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall.
The show, which originally opened off Broadway in 1996, was written by Eve Ensler and was originally performed as a one woman show. Over the years, that show has morphed and changed.
New pieces have been added, classic pieces have been resurrected, and there is always a personal touch. Each year, the show is performed as part of the V-Day global event to raise awareness of women’s issues. 100 percent of the proceeds from The Carson City Vagina Monologues benefits Advocates to End Domestic Violence, a non-profit organization which, according to their mission statement “provides a safe, supportive environment where domestic violence victims can re-examine their view of themselves and work towards a violence free future.”
The show features local women and is emceed by CarsonNow columnist and business coach Diane Dye Hansen.
Tickets are available for the following dates and times:
