Carson City Board of Supervisors to hear Carson Valley Meats Appeal tonight
Tonight, Thursday Feb. 3, the Carson City Board of Supervisors will hear an appeal made by a group of residents against the Planning Commission's second approval of the Carson Valley Meats processing facility.
In late December, a group of residents filed an appeal of the Carson City Planning Commission’s approval awarding a Special Use Permit to Carson Valley Meats for a proposed USDA meat processing facility on Highway 50.
The appeal is the latest activity on Carson Valley Meats’ proposed facility after it was originally approved in October by a 4-1 vote. The same group appealed the decision at that time, but the approval first had to be vacated due to a noticing issue at the city level and brought back before the commissioners for a re-vote.
The proposal was heard for a second time on Dec. 15, during which commissioners voted 5-1 to approve the facility.
The meeting will be held at the Carson City Community Center beginning at 5 p.m.
Those who cannot attend in person can watch on the city's Youtube Channel here.
