Take control of your diabetes: Diabetes Self-Management Class
Partnership Carson City is hosting a six week class for people with diabetes, pre-diabetes and caretakers.
The class, Diabetes Empowerment Education Program (DEEP), is a licensed diabetes self-management education curriculum developed by the University of Illinois, Chicago.
Topics include:
— What is Diabetes and Understanding the Human Body
— Risk Factors for Diabetes
— Monitoring Your Body
— Get Up and Move! Diabetes and Physical Activity
— Management of Diabetes through Meal Planning
— Diabetes Complications: Identification and Prevention
— Learning about Medications and Medical Care
— Living with Diabetes: Mobilizing Your Family and Friends
Class meets for two hours on Tuesdays, for six weeks. The first class is on January 16 and meets from
5:30 to 7:30 pm at United Latino Community, 1711 N. Roop St., Carson City. Please come 15 minutes early for the first class (registration). To sign up, email cathleen@carsonulc.org, or call 775-671-7455. Registration is limited. Cost is $10.00 total. Through education and support, you can take control of your diabetes.
