T- Minus Two Weeks Until Homecoming
It's almost that time of year again at Carson High School. That one week of school where everybody dresses like a fashion-less hippy, has wild date proposals and bonds the student body closer as a school. This of course would be the one and only Homecoming week.
This year's homecoming theme is "Around the World" and the date is set for October 14th-October 18th. It would appear that Homecoming is looking very promising thanks to the leadership of this year's Master of Ceremonies: Jared Hearn and Sarah Christl.
Jared Hearn is the Student Body President at Carson High and this year is his third in leadership. I asked Jared if he was nervous about being the one of the MCs and confidently responded with, "No, I would say Sarah and I doing very well and the class is working very hard to get things done." Jared is also an AP Student and an athlete at Carson High. When I asked him about how he balances such a busy life he stated, "I have had to make sacrifices and set my priories so that I make sure I follow through with things."
This year is Sarah Christl's first year in Student Council and when I asked her if she was nervous she said, "there's a lot of responsibility involved, but I'm confident that all of the students in student council are enthusiastic about making this the best homecoming week ever." Sarah is also an athlete and an AP student as well and stated, "it's not easy, but the people around me make it easier to get through it and to make me laugh when I'm super stressed."
This week's Homecoming line up looks promising, starting off with Tuesday's dress up day of "International Hat Day," the assembly to get everybody excited and the night time event is Lip Sync at the community center. Wednesday's dress up day is "Greek" so students will be sure to show off their finest silks in the form of togas and the night time event is Wednesday Night Live also at the community center.
Thursday's dress up day is "Vacation Destination" so tacky tourists will be all the rage. The night time event is the parade and bonfire on the softball field, along with the Junior Varsity football game against Manogue and the volleyball game against Douglas. Friday's dress up theme is "'Murica" so red, white and blue will be well on display and the night time event is the Varsity football game at home kicking off at 7. The last day of homecoming week will be Saturday which will host the annual semi-formal Homecoming dance.
