Silver State Offers Associates Degree with High School Diploma to Eligible Students
Silver State Charter Schools has teamed up with Western Nevada College to offer eligible students the chance to earn both a two-year Associates degree along with their High School Diploma. After meeting with Western Nevada College representatives and analyzing whether students would benefit from such a program, administrators at Silver State Charter Schools unanimously decided to participate in the program.
Referred to as "Jump Start" by WNC, Board President Edie Grub noted that "This is a way for eligible students to earn a two-year college degree, free, that they might not otherwise be able to do. It's a great opportunity."
Executive Director of Academics, Dr. Kit Kotler concurred and added "After students have a two-year degree they are prepared to go directly into the work force or, if preferred, enter a four-year program and graduate in an additional two years with their Bachelor's degree. This is right in line with Governor Sandoval's objectives for students in Nevada and we are pleased to be able to add this vital program at Silver State Charter Schools."
Representatives of Western Nevada College will be onsite at SSCS on October 28th from 5:30-6:30pm to explain the program to parents. SSCS is located at 788 Fairview Drive, Carson City.
