Silver State Art Festival returns Sept. 10-12 at Fuji Park Exhibit Hall in Carson City

Join us for the 4th Annual Silver State Art Festival and meet the 40-plus award-winning artists who will be displaying their stunning art: paintings, photography, gourds, woodcraft, and much more. Plus, three days of beginner and expert classes.

The Sept. 10-12 Silver State Art Festival, sponsored by the Nevada Gourd Society, is a collaborative gathering of several of the natural fine artistry entities in and around the state of Nevada. Other sponsors include the Carson City Tourism Authority and Nevada State Bank.

The festival is comprised of gourd art and basketry art as well as other fine art and fine craft media. Vendors in attendance will be displaying and selling artwork and art supplies. In addition, there will be classes for those interested in a hands-on learning experience. Our goal is to have a fun and educational festival for all who want to know more about the beautiful world of the natural arts.

People will be “out & about” the weekend of September 10-12, 2021 and our festival adds to the fun of being in Carson City and offers a great opportunity for our community to enjoy wonderful art and to do a little pre-holiday shopping. Another way to phrase it — we want folks to experience "Art in the Valley."

The Nevada Highway Patrol reports a fatal motorcycle crash that happened Friday morning in the southbound lane of I-580 near the Highway 50 overpass.

Another summer weekend has arrived. The Carson City Fair will be open all day, but tonight is something special. The Bulls, Broncs, and Barrels Rodeo takes over the Fuji Park Arena. You’ll find another free outdoor concert in McFadden Plaza this evening featuring Road Daddy, food and fun. Youth Theater Carson City debuts its newest production, Into the Woods, Jr., at the Community Center and is a great option for a special kids’ night out. Youth Theatre Carson City features its production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s "Into the Woods, Jr." beginning this Friday, July 28 and running through August 6 in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center.

The Carson Nugget has a few tickets still available for the Jack Johnson shows this Friday and Saturday at Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena. The ticket packages are $104 each and come with transportation on a tour bus up to Lake Tahoe.

Aloha! On Saturday, July 29, the Northern Nevada Hui Association will be having a fundraiser at the Carson Mall with food, activities and music throughout the day.

Nevada Highway Patrol responded Thursday afternoon to three separate vehicle accidents that happened minutes from each other on I-580 in Carson City.

The UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center on Thursday released its annual Tahoe: State of the Lake Report for 2016, noting a year marked by the hottest temperatures on record followed by a winter of unprecedented levels of rain and snow in the Sierra Nevada where Lake Tahoe resides.

UPDATE FRIDAY: The Carson City District Attorney’s Office, in its criminal complaint, argues the victim was repeatedly sexually abused from the ages of 10 to 12, when the suspect was between the ages 16 to 18 years of age.

A 23-year-old man was booked into jail Wednesday on two felony counts suspicion of sexual assault of a child under the age of 14, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Tickets for the 2017 Taste of Downtown sold out, Advocates to End Domestic Violence (AEDV) Executive Director Lisa Lee said Tuesday, making this year one of the most successful yet for the local non-profit dedicated to ending domestic abuse crimes in Northern Nevada.

June gaming revenue from Carson City area casinos increased by 3.16 percent over the same time as last year, according to figures released Thursday by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
