Silver State Art Festival returns Sept. 10-12 at Fuji Park Exhibit Hall in Carson City

More than a dozen state agencies throughout Nevada are taking advantage of a unique program allowing high school students with disabilities to obtain work experience by serving as interns.

Another summer weekend has arrived. The Carson City Fair will be open all day, but tonight is something special. The Bulls, Broncs, and Barrels Rodeo takes over the Fuji Park Arena. You’ll find another free outdoor concert in McFadden Plaza this evening featuring Road Daddy, food and fun. Youth Theater Carson City debuts its newest production, Into the Woods, Jr., at the Community Center and is a great option for a special kids’ night out. FRIDAY:

The Carson Nugget has a few tickets still available for the Jack Johnson shows this Friday and Saturday at Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena. The ticket packages are $104 each and come with transportation on a tour bus up to Lake Tahoe.

Nevada Highway Patrol responded Thursday afternoon to three separate vehicle accidents that happened minutes from each other on I-580 in Carson City.

UPDATE FRIDAY: The Carson City District Attorney’s Office, in its criminal complaint, argues the victim was repeatedly sexually abused from the ages of 10 to 12, when the suspect was between the ages 16 to 18 years of age.

The District Attorney’s Office cites Nevada Revised Statutes 171.083 and NRS 171.085 in its prosecution of the case, which can be found here.

A 23-year-old man was booked into jail Wednesday on two felony counts suspicion of sexual assault of a child under the age of 14, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

The Nevada Artists Association Gallery is inviting local and regional artist to enter it's annual judged Photography Show. Judges will award 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. The exhibition is open to all photographers, membership in the NAA is not required. Entry date is Saturday, August 5, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Carson City Fair will wrap up the weekend with back-to-back performances of Manuel Souza’s Bulls, Broncs and Barrels.

While Carson City has been spared thus far of severe thunderstorms, other parts of the region have not, experiencing rain, hail and gusty winds extending into Lyon, Churchill and Washoe counties and eastern Nevada Monday and Tuesday.

After five years in the 4 Paws 4-H Dog Club, Morgan Craghill, 14, had her first opportunity to compete in an actual dog show this week as part of the Carson City Fair at Fuji Park.

Thunderstorms are expected again Tuesday for Carson City and western Nevada, according to the National Weather Service in Reno, which is tracking several thunderstorms mainly south of Interstate 80.
