Save Silver City Website Goes Live
The Silver City Small Actions Committee is happy to announce the launch of the Save Silver City website, SaveSilverCity.org which will serve as a source of information and opinion about Silver City, Nevada, and the challenges it now confronts.
For the past six years, Silver City has been under assault by a local mining company and its plan to construct an open pit gold mine in town. Silver City has resisted at every turn.
The efforts have been successful to this point, however the company has recently announced it intends to move ahead with the project. Save Silver City.org will raise public awareness about this very important issue, and provide news updates tracking legal, political, and regulatory developments. The site will also post basic information on Silver City, its residents, and its history.
Silver City (population 180) is a small residential community located in northwestern Nevada, about 15 miles south of Reno. It is within both the Virginia City National Historic Landmark and the Comstock Historic District. The Silver City Small Actions Committee is a community political organization, dedicated to influencing local, regional, and national events and policy.
