Grifols Biomat USA opens new Carson City, Carson Valley plasma donation center, open house July 13
CARSON CITY — The ripple effects of Covid continue to strain the supply of lifesaving plasma even though it seems as if we’ve weathered the worst of the pandemic. Supply is low and donations are urgently needed. In effort to increase the ease of donations for the public, Grifols Biomat USA is opening another state-of-the-art donation center in Carson City at 915 Jack Valley Road, Carson City.
Everyone in the greater Carson City, Carson Valley area is invited to the open house for the new location on Tuesday, July 13 from 2 to 4 p.m.
There will be food and drinks, public officials will be on hand as well as a presentation of a check from Grifols Biomat USA to support local high schools and much more. This will be a tremendous opportunity for the public to see the beauty of the location and learn how truly easy, painless and SAFE it is to donate plasma. Donors literally become a superheroes saving lives.
Here’s a portion of a thank you note from one of the countless patients who have been helped by donors to Grifols Biomat USA:
“Without you, my child may not have a father. You are a true hero for helping without even knowing it.” – Scott M.
Plasma consists mostly of water and a small amount of proteins and antibodies. Those proteins are what Grifols uses to produce medicines that help treat people with a variety of life-threatening diseases, illnesses and conditions. These plasma-derived medications are the standard course of treatment for thousands of people in more than 100 countries across the globe who need the treatment to improve their health and lead productive lives, including many right here in Carson City.
Producing enough of these life-saving medications takes a considerable amount of plasma, the source material, which is why we are continually in need of plasma donations. While each of our donors may have different reasons for donating plasma, all of them make their donations through the same method: plasmapheresis.
