Carson City arrests: Wearing only a shirt, man jailed for indecent exposure

A Carson City man was arrested early Monday morning for suspicion of felony indecent exposure, misdemeanor public nuisance and resisting arrest, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report deputies were called to the area for a report of a battery. A deputy made contact with the highly intoxicated man in front of his apartment.

The man, Gabriel Delgado, was wearing only a shirt and was exposing himself, according to the arrest report. The man was told to go back into his apartment. The deputy then returned to his patrol vehicle to provide another deputy an update.

The suspect remained in front of his apartment exposing himself. He was told again to go back to his apartment. Multiple residents stepped outside and were commenting on the man exposing himself, the arrest report states. The officer attempted to walk the man into the residence multiple times but the man refused to go in. He was arrested. Bail: $5,750.

— A 23-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Monday, 3:07 a.m. in the 4300 block of North Carson Street for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI, not having a valid driver’s license, fleeing the scene of an accident and failure to notify law enforcement of an accident.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to the area southbound I-580 and Arrowhead Drive for a report of an accident.

Deputies arrived and found the vehicle involved was unoccupied. Dispatch advised a reporting party saw an individual feeling the scene, running toward Arrowhead. Deputies located the man who had been running from the area, finding him at a convenience store in the 4300 block of North Carson Street.

He was read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak. He was asked if he was the driver of the vehicle that crashed on the interstate. The man said he was a passenger in the vehicle. He was asked where he was sitting and the man repeated he was a “passenger” the arrest report states.

He was asked if he had been drinking and he said he had “a lot to drink,” the arrest report states. The deputy asked the man if he had a valid driver’s license after his wallet hand been retrieved showing a Nevada identification card. He replied no.

He was asked who else was in the car with him. He said he didn’t know. He was asked if he would be willing to perform standardized field sobriety tests. He told the officer no. Officers observed redness and bruising on his left shoulder near the collarbone area and that he was covered in fine dust, which is common with airbag deployment.

Paramedics arrived on scene to medically evaluate the man, who denied medical attention. He consented to a preliminary breath test of .177. Due to the circumstances, he was arrested for suspicion of DUI and the other charges. He underwent a blood test at jail. Bail: $3,603.

— A 35-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 12:33 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Carson Street for a violation of Department of Alternative Sentencing orders. According to the arrest report, deputies responded to a reported fight at a motel in the 1400 block of North Carson Street.

A deputy met with a man who had a small laceration to the middle of his forehead. He was asked what happened. The man said he got into a fight and said he didn’t know who it was with. The man declined medical attention. While speaking the deputy could smell alcohol on the man’s breath.

He agreed to a preliminary breath test which resulted in a .155 PBT. The Department Of Alternative Sentencing advised the man was man not allowed to consume alcohol as part of his conditions. He was arrested. Bail: $3,000.

— A Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 5:31 p.m. in the area of West College Parkway and College Drive for suspicion of gross misdemeanor possession of stolen property, and the following misdemeanors: driving on a suspended license, driving with fictitious registration and eluding.

According to the arrest report, a deputy in the area observed a vehicle fitting a description given by dispatch regarding a vehicle that had a stolen license plate on it.

The deputy caught up to the vehicle and confirmed through NCIC that the plate was stolen. The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop, including turning on his siren multiple times, but the driver continued to drive westbound on West College Parkway. The vehicle finally stopped. The driver was detained.

She was read her Miranda rights and agreed to speak. She told the deputy she paid for the license plate from someone in the area of 600 Old Hot Springs Road. She told the deputy she needed the plate so that she could drive her vehicle. Her driver’s information was run through dispatch which revealed that she had a suspended driver’s license that started March 20, 2016. She was arrested. Bail: $3,886.

— A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 12:51 a.m. in the 4100 block of South Carson Street for suspicion of misdemeanor embezzlement.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to a fast food restaurant on South Carson Street regarding an embezzlement that happened. During the investigation, officers learned the suspect was seen on surveillance taking a $100 bill from the safe. Deputies reviewed the tape and located the man at a nearby convenience store. He was found to have the $100 bill in his possession and was arrested. Bail: $1,137.

On Saturday, April 20, Carson City Community Gardeners and the UNR Extension Master Gardeners came together to get the Community Garden ready for the growing season. For two hours they removed weeds, spread mulch and prepped their garden beds for the season.

In collaboration with Chartwells, the Carson City School District foodservice partner, Culinary Arts students from Ms. Tammy Borreman’s class at Carson Middle School competed in a “Discovery Kitchen Cook Off.” Similar to a mini version of the Food Network’s Iron Chef, the timed cooking competition featured teams of three students who prepared succulent dishes for a judging panel.

Shoe Tree Brewing, with locations in Carson City and Minden, was recently awarded a Silver Award in the 2024 World Beer Cup, the most prestigious beer competition in the world.

Girls on the Run Sierras is a character-building program for girls in 3rd through 8th grade operating in the Reno-Tahoe area.

A number of new Junior Park Rangers received their badges as they were sworn in as part of the annual Junior Park Rangers Day in Carson City.

The next Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Bob Crowell Boardroom of the Community Center, located at 851 E. William Street.
