Educational Kids Fair featured at Virginia City's Historic Fourth Ward School Museum
Combining education with fun-filled activities is a great way for children to learn! This will be the focus of our Educational Kids Fair on Saturday, July 10th from 11 am to 4 pm. Sponsors for the event include the Nevada Mining Association, Nevada Division of Minerals, St. Mary’s Art Center, The Comstock Foundation, Community Chest Cub Scout Pack 360, VC Silver Circuits, W. M. Keck Museum, Comstock Pottery and Tile, and Local Author and Artist Greg Melton. Admission to the fair will be $10. The museum will remain open to the public during the fair for everyone to enjoy.
The exhibits throughout the museum will highlight activities of what the museum offers by educating children about the Comstock, Mining and Safety, Minerals and Geology, along with fun activities that include pottery, calligraphy, stop-motion video, printmaking, journal making, and knot tying! There will be plenty to learn about and many things to create! We will also have an online auction that anyone can participate in, even if you are not here physically. The auction will run from Friday, July 9th until Tuesday, July 13th. Look on our Facebook page for the announcement of our special link.
This event will focus on our local community organizations. A local artist and author, Greg Melton, will have a reading of his published book The Pyramid Pony. There will also be books available to be signed after the reading, this will be from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.
The Historic Fourth Ward School Museum is very appreciative of all the sponsors who are taking time to help with the fair, their support made it possible to have this event.
