Carson City community radio pioneer to be Dems luncheon speaker
Brian Bahouth, news director at KNVC 95.1 FM, will be the featured speaker at the Democratic luncheon on Monday, July 2nd. Before coming to Carson City, he served as news director at three other community radio stations: KRZA in Alamosa, Colorado, KVMR in Nevada City and KUNR in Reno.
As an instructor at UNR's Reynolds School of Journalism, Brian supervised more than a dozen interns at KUNR. And having reported on eight sessions of the Nevada State Legislature, he became convinced that developing an independent, non-commercial news presence in Nevada's capital city will foster a better informed electorate and a healthier level of grass roots democracy.
This event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on July 2nd at Carson City's Round Table Pizza, near Starbucks in the Walmart retail complex, just off of College Parkway. All-you-can-eat buffet lunch available. All are welcome.
Sponsored by the Democratic Men's Committee, these fundraisers help defer expenses at Carson's Democratic HQ while affording the community an opportunity to engage with candidates, office holders, subject matter experts and public policy advocates in an unstructured, open-ended and informal atmosphere.
Donations of $5 or more gratefully accepted but are not required. For further information contact Rich Dunn at 434-8783 or richdunn@aol.com.
