Muscle Powered Saturday Hike to Tahoe Meadows Interpretive Loop and Boardwalk Trail
Come and joined this Muscle Powered leader-led hike on Saturday to Tahoe Meadows Interpretive (TMI) Loop and Boardwalk trail. This beautiful trail starts at the Tahoe Meadows Tahoe Rim Trail Parking lot, on the south side of highway 431, just past the Mt. Rose Summit. It is an easy and fairly flat hike of about 4+ miles around the TMI Loop and then “down” the meadow trail to the boardwalk trail loop and back to the parking lot.
We will meet at the Carson City “north end” SaveMart on N. Carson Street along the south wall of the building at 7:45 AM, to carpool to the trailhead promptly at 8:00 AM, a 35-mile drive. Dogs are allowed but please bring a leash as this is a popular and well-used area with many hikers.
The views include meadows, streams, forests, wildflowers and wildlife and possibly a peek at Lake Tahoe. We will likely encounter some melting snow in the woods, so wear closed toed shoes or hiking boots that might get muddy. There is some slight elevation gain coming back up to the parking lot from the boardwalk trail, but for those who don’t want that uphill return (about ½ mile), we can stage cars where the trail comes back to the road.
Water is a must, as are good hiking boots or closed toed shoes. Poles are recommended. Please contact Debbie Lane (Debbie Lane at Debbie.Lane102@yahoo.com, 775-350-9949) or Betts Markle (bettsm@gmail.com,) if you have any questions.
