Garden Club to Honor Past Member at Arbor Day Activities
The Desert Gardeners Garden Club will honor a deceased member, Nancy Lee Robertson, with a tree planting at Long Ranch Park, on Saturday, April 25.
The ceremony will be in conjunction with Arbor Day Celebrations at the Park and will be held at 10 a.m. Nancy Lee Robertson, wife of former Carson City Mayor, Jim Robertson, was a long time member of the Garden Club and passed away last year. Family, friends, and the community are invited to join the Desert Gardeners’ members, Carson City Dignitaries, representatives from the Carson City Parks and Recreation Department and the Arbor Day Committee, at the planting ceremony.
The Desert Gardeners Garden Club was formed in 1952 to help beautify the Carson City community, to study plant life, to promote better gardens and to share a common interest in the flora of our area. Current projects of the Club include: donation of a garden bench for the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center, sponsorship of two hanging baskets for downtown Carson City, Bulbs and plants for the Children’s Secret Garden at the library and donation of trees, to honor past members, at Mankin and Long Ranch parks.
