Business Resource Innovation Center Hosts Foundation Center Training

Carson City Library’s Business Resource Innovation Center (the BRIC), a member of the Foundation Center network of Cooperating Collections, will host a free training session for managing non-profit organizations. “Nonprofit Sustainability: Building Blocks to Organizational Success” will be held Thursday, April 4, beginning at 3 pm, at the BRIC, 108 E Proctor.

Nonprofit sustainability means more than just generating enough money to keep your organization afloat. This class will begin with the definition of nonprofit sustainability and cover each of the four key elements that contribute to long-term sustainability for an organization. Learn what you can do to increase your organization’s competitiveness and strengthen its financial health in the current economic climate.

Topics to be covered include understanding what nonprofit sustainability means, key elements of nonprofit sustainability, and tips on how to develop key elements in your organization. To register online go here or call 775 283-7123.

The Business Resource Innovation Center (BRIC) is affiliated with “Your Knowledge and Discovery Place” the Carson City Library. The BRIC is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is located at 108 E. Proctor Street.

Carts filled with plants from the Washoe State Tree Nursery.

As fall begins, the Washoe State Tree Nursery will reopen on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 9:30 a.m. Located at 885 Eastlake Boulevard in New Washoe City, this nursery is operated by the Nevada Division of Forestry and offers native and adapted plants for landscaping and conservation.

A patrol deputy responded to the reporting party and viewed a “screen shot” of the post saying, “School shooting October 10th Eagle Valley Middle School” with 2 gun emojis following the post. The account had on it, “I like to do shootings every single year” with a gun emoji.

Nevada utility regulators have unanimously denied a request by NV Energy to raise the basic service charge for its Northern Nevada customers by 175 percent, instead on Tuesday awarding the utility just a fraction of its requested amount.
