Organizers say thanks for Lone Mountain's 'Flip the Lip' Open House

The staff at Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital would like to extend a huge thank you to all of our supporters of our Flip the Lip Dental Open House.

Highway 395 remains closed Tuesday at the Nevada-California state line as firefighters continue to battle the Chris Fire that began Monday west of U.S. Route 395, about five miles north of Sonora Junction near the Chris Flat Campground.

Friends to All is dedicated to bringing joy, cheer and friendship to senior citizens in the Carson City community during the holiday season. Since 1999 this group has been working to meet the needs of those with limited financial resources who are home bound or in care centers with little or no family nearby.

Toys for Tots in Carson City, Douglas, Storey and Lyon counties will be kicking off the season to bring Christmas Cheer to children in the local community. If you are in need of toys, the hotlines begin Nov. 27 at 9 a.m. and run through Dec. 22, 2017.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance in attempting to locate a person of interest in a residential burglary.

UPDATE: Bruce's Legacy, the underwater search and recovery team from Wisconsin, was at Fallen Leaf Lake recently, searching the water for a missing person. What they found was more than expected when bodies of both a man and woman were recovered.

Five out of seven teens hurt in a rollover crash on Kings Canyon Road remain in critical condition as classes resume at Carson and Dayton high schools Monday. Six of the teens – all 16 or 17 – were students at Carson High School; one student was a student at Dayton High School.

A 42-year-old Carson City woman was arrested for felony suspicion of burglary by shoplifting, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Hundreds of high school students and family members met Sunday night at McFadden Plaza in Carson City for a candlelight gathering to show support for seven teenagers who were injured in a single vehicle rollover accident Thursday night on Kings Canyon Road.

The Nevada State Controller’s Office Information Technology Division, under the direction of Linnette Ollson, has been holding monthly team building exercises. In the past, they participated in a scavenger hunt, race car/track building and racing, painting, etc. Team members look forward to the events, which are fun, competitive and educational.

FCCPR presents Open House honoring Native American Heritage Month.

November is National Native American Heritage Month. In recognition of that, the Foundation for Carson City Parks & Recreation is hosting an open house and exhibit of selected examples of two- and three-dimensional Native American art at the historic Wungnema House in Mills Park, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 2017.

UPDATE 10:15PM: Seven teenagers injured in a single vehicle rollover accident last Thursday night on Kings Canyon Road will get additional support from the local community as Carson City businesses are donating proceeds to help pay for medical costs.

A man was arrested early Saturday in the 100 block of East Telegraph following an incident where a weapon was allegedly brandished, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said. Two others were also arrested for suspicion of obstructing.

Remember the days when it seemed like there was no one available to help with homework? Well that excuse will not work anymore, at least not at Carson High School.

Classy Seconds Thrift Store, a revenue arm of Advocates To End Domestic Violence shelter, held its grand opening Saturday at its new Gordon Street building in Carson City.

Executive Director Lisa Lee pushed the doors open at 9 a.m. to greet an eager crowd of dozens who gathered to get their first look and bargains at the thrift store's new home.

Tiffani’s 5th annual Sealed Toy Drive has commenced with 17 drop off locations in and around Carson City. The "sealed" toy drive allows hospitalized children who have to stay in their room, or are unable to play with used toys, a chance to receive a small gift basket of toys and games to play with over the holidays.

An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday in the area of Mark and James streets for suspicion of felony drug possession with intent to sell marijuana and possession of more than one ounce of marijuana, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

UPDATE 8:20AM: Managers at Q's barbecue in Carson City say they hope to be open by Monday following a kitchen fire late Friday night. The restaurant was unoccupied at time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
