Dayton Urgent Care seeks items for healthy hygiene kits to give to children this summer
Over the last few years Dayton Urgent Care has been giving back to the community and has partnered with Terri Gahr, who works in the schools and is the Dayton Area Resource Coordinator of Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey counties. The organization has been a big help with DUC's clothing drives, Angel trees and the healthy hygiene kits we collect.
Since last year Dayton Urgent Care has been collecting these healthy hygiene kits along with its annual back to school back pack drive. All of the items donated go back to the kids in the community that can use them. Dayton Urgent Care is now starting to collect items for its healthy hygiene kit drive for kids to have for summer time.
We are asking folks that would like to help out with these healthy hygiene kits to donate items to fill them. We are asking for:
— Shampoo, conditioner
— Brush, combs
— Tooth brushes, tooth paste
— Lip balm like Chapstick
— Feminine products
— Socks
— Hand sanitizer
— Deodorant
Items can be dropped off at Urgent Care, 901 Medical Center Drive, Dayton.
Like the other drives, Healthy Communities coordinator Gahr then takes the donations collected and distributes them.
Over the last 3-4 years during the Christmas holiday season Dayton Urgent Care has been doing an Angel Tree, and collaborating with Healthy Communities. This past year began having having drawings for the sick kids that come in to be seen. It started when we had our first drawing for an Easter basket prize. We watched how it made a little girl react while she was picking up her basket and from then on we knew that we have to do more.
At Christmas last year we had a drawing for an over-sized stuffed bear. It was a success thanks to some great ladies in the community as well as the community coming together and helping the kids and families that needed it by contributing to the Angel Tree.
