Silver Sage 4-H Community Club Benefits Carson City Advocates Against Domestic Violence
A culmination of more than two months of community service activity, the members of the Silver Sage 4-H Community Club met with Traci Trenoweth of Carson City Advocates to End Domestic Violence and presented her organization with a car load of donations.
Under the leadership of Nora Streng, Teen Leader of the SS4HCC and the Bouncing Bunnies 4-H Club, the group put together 35 personal care kits and additional cleaning supplies and personal care items. The kits included a basket containing shampoo and conditioner, lotion, toothpaste, toothbrush, bar soap, deodorant, 2 wash clothes, comb and a brush, 3 razors, chapstick and floss! In addition, there were 354 extras of these items and 95 miscellaneous cleaning supply items.
Nora and her mother, Chelle Streng, coordinated the collection and storage of donations, holding a workday for the SS4HCC members to put the baskets together. The SS4HCC members reached out to friends and other groups who contributed and deserve many thanks: Carson/Storey Cooperative Extension staff, Bouncing Bunnies 4-H Club, Washoe 4-H High Sierra Riders, Saliman Dr. LDS Church, Pine Nut Riders 4-H Club, Northern Nevada Dental Association, Linda Thompson and all SS4HCC families.
