This coming Tuesday, May 4, will mark one month since the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and veteran-led organization Team Rubicon launched their mobile COVID-19 vaccination effort for rural Nevada.

The Nevada State Museum, Carson City, will activate historical Coin Press No. 1 from 1 to 7 p.m. May 18 to mint a special medallion commemorating the state Capitol building. Opened in 1871, the Nevada Capitol building celebrates its 150th anniversary this year. A small brush fire with a low rate of spread was quickly knocked down Tuesday afternoon by the Carson City Fire Department. The fire, reported at 1:36 p.m., was south of Carson River Park off Carson River Road on the west side of the river.

Carson City School District’s McKinney-Vento Students in Transition ‘Step Into Spring’ program provided 219 pairs of new shoes with pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade students in transition Tuesday morning.
