The Foundation for Carson City Parks and Recreation, at its June Board of Directors meeting, allocated $15,000 of the funds entrusted to it by the old Carson City Tennis Club to initiate the design, planning, and engineering of new tennis courts at Centennial Park.

UPDATE Saturday, 2:45 p.m.: According to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong, law enforcement lost the pack of dogs and they are still roaming at large. Animal Control and law enforcement are continuing their search.

One of Carson City’s favorite bike-themed events will be returning to the capital city streets tonight: Blinky Man!

The pub crawl/bike tour/costumed event is a summer favorite for Carsonites, who dress up both themselves as well as their bikes with silly costumes and twinkle lights, generally accompanied by a loud moving speaker blasting tunes to keep energies high as riders cruise through town.

A vehicle crossed the center line on U.S. 395 Alternate Saturday morning and killed a bicyclist, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

Details about what caused the accident were not immediately available and the NHP was trying to confirm the identity of the woman who was killed.

As an end to Bike Month in Carson City a bike and gear swap hosted by muscle powered is going on now until 11 a.m. at the Brewery Arts Center.

The first Levis-Amp Flatbed Concert will begin tonight, June 19 in Carson City in the Schultz Ranch neighborhood from 6 to 8 p.m.

According to the US National Weather Service, a new daily record high was set Friday in South Lake Tahoe.

The previous daily record was set in 1985 at 86 degrees. The average temperature for the high altitude lake is generally around 71 degrees for June, far below the recorded 90 degrees that swept the lake shores Friday.

A Nevada Department of Transportation maintenance employee is in stable condition Wednesday after being shot multiple times while working to resurface State Route 278 near Eureka. The suspect died by gunshot following an hours-long standoff, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office, Investigations is requesting assistance with locating a runaway juvenile. On June 13, Sara Clark, 15, ran away from her housing in north Carson City. Her guardian advised that she was concerned for Sara because she had been exposed to persons abusing drugs and alcohol in the past. Some of these persons allegedly had firearms around the juvenile.

UPDATE 7:25PM: All previous fire-related highway closures have been removed between Reno and Carson City. I-580, Alt. US 395 and Mt. Rose Highway all open, but avoid the area if possible to leave room for continued fire response and residents returning to their homes.

UPDATE 6:10PM: From NDOT: I-580 South near Eastlake Boulevard Road remains closed. Old Highway 395 opened to center lane traffic only. Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak announced Wednesday that he made his quarterly State salary donation of $27,322.41 to Nevada’s K-12 public schools, totaling more than $241,000 in contributions since taking office in January 2019.

Three cases of rabies in bats were recently discovered by the Nevada Department of Agriculture's Animal Disease Laboratory. One of those cases is in Washoe County and the two others in Clark County.
