Pony Express hands off mail in Genoa, now heading to Carson City, Dayton and Fort Churchill
The historic Pony Express re-ride is underway, as Old West enthusiasts gathered Thursday afternoon at Genoa State Park to witness the hand off between riders.
The Carson City handoff will occur later Thursday evening at around 6 p.m. at the intersection of 2nd and Curry Streets. Arrival time is an approximate, as the arrival in Genoa was around 30 minutes or so behind schedule.
The rider will then continue on surface streets until they reach Mills Park before taking Highway 50 E. toward Arrowhead for the next exchange.
According to the Dayton Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Pony Express is expected to ride down Pike Street in Old Town Dayton, at approximately 7:45 p.m. It should be noted this is approximate time.
The rider will then continue to Fort Churchill for the last exchange of the night at around 10:45 p.m.
