Carson City arrests: Woman accused of breaking into car, leaving blonde wig behind
A woman was arrested early Tuesday morning for suspicion of felony burglary of a motor vehicle after leaving a wig behind in a car she's alleged to have broken into, according to a Carson City sheriff's office booking report.
Michelle Mitchell, 37, of Sacramento, was taken into custody at 12:20 a.m. in the area of North Carson and John Street. According to the booking report, deputies responded to the area for a report of a vehicle burglary in progress.
Deputies arrived and met with the victim who stated he woke up after his dog was barking and saw a person standing near his car. He told the woman he was going to call the police. The female asked the man several times not to do anything, and then left. The victim then pointed to a blonde wig in the back seat that didn't belong to him. It was collected as evidence.
Another deputy advised dispatch he saw a woman who matched the description given by the victim when he initially called 911. The victim was able to positively identify the woman he had confronted in front of his vehicle.
While looking at the suspect's identification card, the officer observed a blonde wig in the picture. The wig appeared to be the same wig found in the victim's car, the report states.
A deputy showed the suspect a picture of the wig and asked her if it belong to her. The woman did not respond "yes" or "no" but instead asked where she had left the wig, the report states. She was told it was found in the victim's car. The wig matched the wig she was wearing in the ID photo, the report states.
