The Dixie Fire burning in northern California and advancing toward Highway 395 is now more than 635,728 acres and is 33 percent contained as of Wednesday, according to InciWeb and Cal Fire. The fire has destroyed 1,208 residential and commercial structures.

Carson City Health and Human Services is now offering a third dose of the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to individuals who are moderately to severely immunocompromised. Third doses will be available at all CCHHS COVID-19 vaccine events for those who meet the criteria as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Dense smoke that has settled in throughout Carson City, the Lake Tahoe Basin and surrounding communities is coming from the Caldor Fire burning in El Dorado County, according to a National Weather Service forecaster.

The topics will include recognizing symptoms of internal bleeding, heatstroke, toxin ingestion, allergic reactions, rattlesnake bites, and gastric dilatation-volvulus or “bloat.” The fundamental purpose of the event is to train dog owners on what to do or not to do during a pet emergency.

Lyon County Republican Central Committee hosts monthly meetings. Meetings of the LCRCC are held on the first Saturday of each month except when changes are made to accommodate holidays or other scheduling conflicts.
