Carson City deputies make arrests for domestic battery, DUI and larceny
A 31-year-old man was arrested Monday for suspicion of domestic battery, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Deputies responded at 10:26 p.m. to an East Long residence for a report of domestic battery. Officers spoke with the victim who said she met with her husband at a gas station who was angry for having vehicle trouble. She told deputies he hit her in the forearm, head, neck and hip and at some point during the altercation, her earring was removed.
A deputy observed dried blood on her left earlobe and a red mark on the left side of her neck, and a large swollen spot on the outside of her left forearm that was beginning to bruise. She said she was able to get away from the man, and drove home to report the incident.
Deputies attempted to locate the man and were unable to locate him. At approximately 11:27 p.m deputies responded to the residence. Dispatch advised there was shouting and crying coming from the phone. Deputies arrived and detained the suspect and read him his Miranda rights.
The suspect initially declined his rights and then agreed to answer questions and told a deputy what happened. He said he attempted to hug and kiss his wife when they met, in which she left him at the gas station. He said he did not know how she sustained her injuries and that if he was accused of hitting her, then he needed to go to jail, the report states. He was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery.
The victim was informed of the protection order process. She stated she intends to obtain a protection order against the man as soon as possible. Bail: $3,137.
In other arrests:
— A 28-year-old woman was arrested early Tuesday for suspicion of DUI, speeding and failure to obey a traffic control device.
According to the arrest report, a driver was stopped by a Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy at 3:38 a.m. on South Carson Street for going 45 mph in a posted 20 mph zone. The driver also drove through a red light signal at 5th Street and South Carson Street.
The deputy could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from her person. The woman's stated she had recently consumed three beers at a friend's home.
Field sobriety tests were administered and the driver showed signs of impairment. The woman did not consent to a preliminary breath test.
The other field sobriety tests led the arresting officer to believe the woman was under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested for suspicion of DUI. At jail she submitted to evidentiary breath tests of .167 and .160. Bail: $1,356.
— A 30-year-old man was arrested Monday, 1:04 p.m. at Walmart in the 3200 block of Market Street for suspicion of petit larceny. The man is accused by store loss prevention of opening packages, eating food, drinking lemonade and taking a backpack. Among the items stolen: a backpack, deli carnitas and barbacoa; an LTC wash TEE, baseball hat, lemonade and flour tortillas. The total amount listed was $67.95.
He was arrested for suspicion of petit larceny. Bail: $352.
