Racing to its 35th year, Tahoe Mountain Milers invites all to participate in the Nevada Day Classic 8K run and 2-mile walk Saturday through the tree lined streets of downtown and historic west side of Carson City.

The areas second regional K9 event was held this last Saturday at Fuji Park in Carson City and brought in 37 law enforcement K9 teams from 12 different agencies throughout Northern Nevada and California.

Hello fellow anglers. Renee and I took a few more trips around the Sierra over the last couple weeks, and yes there was fishing involved. We first camped for 5 days on the East Fork of the Carson River. It was brisk in the morning, but very toasty in the afternoon.

This is my last article for 2023, but I’ll be back early next year. I thought I would look back on all the gardening experiences I had this year. The year started less than auspiciously. The Rotary Club of Carson City awarded this year’s Carson City School District’s Professional Development Center Grant to the “Literacy and Love of Reading through Social Studies” project.

The proposal was submitted by the District’s Curriculum & Assessment Coordinator Brittany Witter. Club members surprised Witter with the award at the school district offices this week.

On Saturday, local law enforcement agencies gathered at Fuji Park for a K9 showcase as part of the 2023 K9 Unit Challenge.

Apprehension and Agility events were on full display at Fuji’s main arena, where bleachers were provided for public viewing (and cheering).

On Sunday, October 29, 2023, Capitol City Gun Club in Carson City, NV will host a Halloween Fun Shoot from 9:00am to 5:30pm.

National Prescription Drug Take Back events offer safe ways to dispose of expired or unneeded prescription drugs.

As part of National Drug Take Back Day, Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties (HCC), AmeriCorps members with HCC, and Lyon County Sheriff's Office will come together to host drop off locations in Dayton and Silver Springs for unneeded medications.

All artists and vendors are encouraged to apply for participation in the 3rd Annual Ag & Artisan Holiday Faire on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the historic Storke Dairy at 876C Centerville Lane in Gardnerville. This is a wonderful event, with children from 4-H and FFA showing their animals, roping demonstrations, animal exhibits, antique farm implements, food and beverages, and a hay auction to benefit our local 4-H and FFA programs.

Our event draws families who want to do a little holiday shopping before the Parade of Lights, making a day of it!

Since October 2022, CCTop has been offering an always-rotating variety of items including custom jewelry, handmade gifts, seasonally themed decor, and of course: everything music.

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Chris Martinovich, PE, Transportation Manager at Carson City Public Works. He is project manager for Preserve Carson City Roads, a campaign designed to educate Carson City drivers about current roadway conditions, preservation solutions, potential funding sources, and what will happen if sufficient investments are not made to preserve our roads. Chris' presentation will be a status report on progress his project team has made to date.

Carson City Republican Party will be hosting our first Town Hall meeting on October 24, 2023. We will hold this event in the Craft 55 Room of the Casino Fandango, 3800 Carson Street, Carson City. The Town Hall meeting will start at 6 PM. Everyone is welcome, as these are your elected officials. Assemblyman P.K. O'Neill, Mayor Lori Bagwell, and Clerk-Recorder Scott Hoen will be our elected officials for this Town Hall. We are sure you have questions, and here is your opportunity to ask the questions.
