Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays to Hold Candidates Night
The Carson City region's PFLAG chapter (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) will again sponsor a Candidate’s Night on Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. The event will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Family Friendship Hall at 1201 North Saliman Road in Carson City. The public is invited to attend.
Candidates from the 2010 Carson City ballot were invited and most responded. For the first hour, each candidate will be given 3 minutes to speak. This format was selected to 1) allow the audience to hear many candidates in one hour, and 2) to encourage candidates to present their best, most convincing arguments within the 3-minute time allotment. From 8:00 to 8:30, there will be a meet-and-greet reception, when candidates can be approached with specific questions. Refreshments will be served.
“Our 2008 Candidates Night was a resounding success,” says PFLAG Carson Region President Rebecca Palmer. “Using the same format, we had a great turnout from the candidates, the voters and the media.”
