Carson City District Judge Todd Russell on Monday rejected the recommendations of Parole and Probation and sentenced a 56-year-old Carson City woman to between 22 months and eight years in prison.

A Gardnerville Ranchos man died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot Monday night following an argument with his wife whom he apparently shot in the leg before turning the gun on himself, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office reports.

David Woffinden, 37, died of a single shot to the chest, said Douglas County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Pat Brooks. The man's wife, Kimberly Woffinden, 34, was taken to Carson Valley Medical Center where she was treated for her injury. The incident was reported at around 9:40 p.m., at a home in the 1400 block of Angora Dive in Gardnerville Ranchos

Central Lyon County Fire District Chief John Gillenwater reports the fire was at 59 Industrial Parkway, D K Logistics, and was called in at 7:47 a.m. The fire was located inside the building that processes organic herbs.

A Carson City man turned himself into Carson City Sheriff's Office authorities on Monday for a felony warrant of fraudulent use of a credit card.
Jeffrey Aguisanda, 30, had a warrant for his arrest out of Carson City Justice Court issued on August 9. Bail; $3,000.

In other arrests, Angela Rebecca Bowman of Mound House was booked into Carson City Jail on Monday. She faces two felonies charges that were under warrants: Failure to appear in court and violation of probation.

It's a story News 4 brought you last week that's gaining international attention. A woman's dog is put down by Carson City Animal Services after she can't pay the fees to reclaim it during a 72-hour window, a policy the city may change.
Since Jeraldine Archuleta's story broke, employees of Carson animal services have been attacked on social media sites across the internet, and now we know they've been receiving physical threats as well.

Fans of the iconic film "12 Angry Men" will be in for a special treat tonight as Plan B: Microlounge in Carson City shows the film for free.

Before the film, at 6 p.m., the cast of Proscenium Players "12 Angry Jurors" will make an appearance, in costume and in character. The director of the play, which opens August 16 at Silver State Charter School, will also be on hand to answer questions.

Two were arrested Sunday and face multiple felony charges including burglary after allegedly stealing a purse with a gun inside from underneath the counter of a Carson City business and then using credit cards to go on a buying spree.

Samantha Ann Henry, of Dresslerville, and David Elden Bennett of Markleeville, both 27, are being held on $105,200 bail each. The pair were discovered attempting to purchase items with one of the stolen credit cards at the Walmart store on Market Street.
