Another round of thunderstorms will develop Wednesday afternoon and evening over much of western Nevada, northern Sierra and Carson City as low pressure moves north along the California coast, the National Weather Service in Reno reports. The region is under a flash flood watch.

Two inmates in the Carson City jail were booked on additional felony charges. A criminal complaint by the Nevada Attorney General's Office was filed July 31 for Jacob Centimano. It alleges battery and possession a dangerous weapon while in jail. The charges were brought to the Carson City Jail booking staff on Aug. 19.

The main mass of a rare meteorite observed in the skies over Carson City, Carson Valley and Lake Tahoe that exploded over California’s Sierra foothills in April 2012 will be preserved for current and future scientific discoveries, thanks to the collaborative efforts of five U.S. academic institutions.

U.S. Representative Mark Amodei will address the citizens of Carson City on Thursday, August 22 at 8 a.m. at the Silver Oak Executive Conference Center.

The event is being sponsored by the Carson City Chamber of Commerce and is open to all interested voters. Cost is $15 per person with advance reservations by calling (775) 882-1565.

During his vacation break from Congress, Amodei has been traveling northern Nevada to address his constituents and to bring them up-to-date on what is or is not happening in Washington, D.C.

The Lyon County Animal Services Division initiated an investigation of the Starlight Sanctuary in Silver Springs, due to complaints of mistreatment of horses. Officers viewed approximately 70 horses on the property.

Officers found appropriate feed and water for the animals and observed some horses that were underweight or had other health concerns. Animal Services has requested veterinarian to respond to the site to determine the health of the animals in question.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a series of residential burglaries that occurred between August 13 and August 16.

During each burglary jewelry, computers, credit cards and other valuable items were taken. While conducting these investigations witnesses reported seeing three females going from house to house, asking for a fictitious person, in order to see if the houses were occupied. Upon finding an unoccupied residence the suspects would make entry either by an unlocked door, window or other means.

One person was flown by Care Flight with moderate injuries after a two vehicle crash Monday afternoon off of Highway 50 and Highlands Drive in Mound House, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at 1:49 p.m. and involved a driver who failed to yield as they attempted to pull out from Highlands Drive onto the highway, colliding with a vehicle in the eastbound lane, said NHP Trooper Chuck Allen.

There were two people in each vehicle, one with moderate injuries who was taken by Care Flight and three others with claimed to minor injury, said Allen.

Vice President Al Gore challenged Lake Tahoe, Carson City, dignitaries, guests and residents, that there should not only be a continued annual Tahoe Summit but a global summit formed. And, that every resident should take on a demonstrative example to the world in having Lake Tahoe as an example regarding the greater issues of global warming.
