The 2014 Republican campaign for lieutenant governor is all too familiar to a pair of former Democratic governors, Richard Bryan and Bob Miller.

In 1986, Bryan and Miller were involved in a scenario much like the one now surrounding the GOP contenders in the Nevada lieutenant governor’s race.

A man shot himself in the chin early Sunday morning in what the Carson City Sheriff's Office are calling an accidental shooting.

Deputies were called to the 1400 block of North Nevada street at 1:53 a.m. Sunday after a man called 911 saying his brother shot himself.

Assistant District Attorney Mark Krueger on Saturday announced his candidacy for Carson City District Attorney.

As Assistant District Attorney, Krueger has been second in command at the Carson City District Attorney’s Office since 2012 and leads a team of 22 professional and support staff.

“I have extensive experience working with city government and the criminal justice system,” he said. “Carson City needs an experienced prosecutor, civil litigator and team leader to fill the important role of District Attorney and I bring that to the table.”

The Carson City Sheriff's Office is warning residents of a man posing as a lieutenant who is telling them that they will go to jail unless they use a credit card or money order to pay for traffic tickets.

According Sgt. Scott McDaniel, a man is calling homeowners identifying himself as "Lt. Steven Mills" with the Carson City Sheriff's Office or the Ormsby County Sheriff's Office.

As a partner with the Carson City School District’s gifted and talented education program, known as G.A.T.E, the Carson City Library engaged 27 middle school students from Carson Middle and Eagle Valley schools.

The half-day enrichment was designed to sharpen student’s critical thinking skills through activities that teach students to “see” the community with data.

A number of captured feral-estray wild horses from the Washoe Valley area north of Carson City were illegally released sometime Thursday or Friday prompting an investigation by the Nevada Department of Agriculture.

The Virginia Range horses were reported to be running loose Friday on Highway 395 south near Washoe Hill, said Bob Conrad, department spokesman.

A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 4:48 p.m. in the area of Airport Road and Desatoya. He faces misdemeanor charges of failure to obey a traffic control device, DUI alcohol and drugs, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and violation of pre-trial supervision.
