This past December, Haley Albarran opened the Messy Kids Art School in a little room in the Miller Wellness Center building on Telegraph St., but only a few months later, she had outgrown the space, and will now be expanding into the Carson Square building which houses the Carson City Visitor's Center and ReMax at the corner of Curry and Washington Streets in downtown Carson City.

Thirty-six employees who have worked a collective 766 years with the Carson City School District will retire this year. The retirees were recognized at the school board meeting Tuesday, May 23.

A 38-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 2400 block of Meadowbrook Lane for domestic battery after allegedly punching her boyfriend repeatedly in the face after he punched her dog.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Sean Drive for a report of a physical domestic dispute. The boyfriend called deputies and advised he’d been punched multiple times in the face by his girlfriend.

The Nevada Outdoor Experience is a free youth outdoor expo with the goal of exciting and inspiring the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts and wildlife conservationists.

Over twenty organizations are coming together to educate youth (and their families) on a variety of outdoor related hobbies.

UPDATE: The Carson City Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the public with their assistance in identifying and
locating the gold Honda Accord. Based on several anonymous tips, the vehicle has been located, and
the suspect has been identified.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance in locating and identifying the driver of a vehicle involved in a battery investigation.

The vehicle is a newer model gold Honda Accord. (Photo attached.) The vehicle’s license plate number is unknown at this time.

In response to this increased demand, Nevada State Parks has worked to develop an online tool that will make it easier for visitors to explore Nevada, while ensuring responsible, sustainable management of the Silver State’s natural resources.

Dayton Senior Center, together with Sierra Nevada Cornhole, is having their 2nd annual FUNdraiser Cornhole to benefit the Dayton Senior Center on Saturday, June 3rd. The tournament will be located in front of the historic Odeon Saloon at 65 Pike St in historic Dayton, NV. Sign-in/practice starts at 10am, bags fly at 11am.

The Carson City School District took time at the May 23 school board meeting to recognize Brynlee Peters, a fifth grader at Fritsch Elementary School in Carson City, for her artwork and entry, which was selected out of hundreds of students statewide for the 2023 Free Fishing Day Poster contest offered by the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW).
