Here is the Carson City road construction and maintenance report through November 4: On Monday, October 29, traffic control will be in effect between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. on the following route to allow for the movement of an oversized load: Carson City Mills Park, William Street, US Highway 50, Arrowhead Drive, and Technology Way.

Roop Street between Hot Springs Road and Winnie Lane will be closed on Tuesday, October 30, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the striping of the street. There will also be intermittent delays throughout the week due in this area..

Sunny skies and crisp fall temperatures are in motion for the 74th annual Nevada Day Parade, which begins at 10 a.m. down Carson Street in Carson City. The three-hour four mile-long parade features hundreds of colorful floats, high-stepping equestrian units, and spirited marching bands from throughout the state. The traditional 10 a.m. flyover of military aircraft from the Fallon Naval Air Station and Nevada Air Guard will kick-off the parade.

A Carson City Sheriff's deputy suffered minor injuries to his hand after an incident near Long and Roop streets on Friday night. The incident reportedly happened when a man become out of control and aggressive with officers, who tasered the man to contain him.
The man was taken to the hospital and faces charges of public intoxication, battery on an officer and obstruction.

A man was reportedly found shot in the head this morning at around 8 a.m. in the area of Boyle and Oneida streets on Washoe Tribal land in Carson City.
Authorities are investigating and Washoe Tribal Police have been called to the scene. The wounded man was said to be still alive and Care Flight was responding to the intersection of Boyle and West Washoe streets, which is about two blocks away from Curry Street where Nevada Day parade floats are gathering.

The El Dorado County Department of Environmental Health was notified this week by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) that two additional chipmunks in the South Lake Tahoe area have tested positive for plague. One of the chipmunks was found in the Tallac Historic Site area and one was near the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) Taylor Creek Visitor Center.

CARSON CITY – Gov. Brian Sandoval today participated in a ceremony in the old Assembly chambers in the state Capitol to swear in 58 new citizens representing countries from Bulgaria to New Zealand.

The new citizens range in age from 18 to 85 and are from 27 different countries.
