Nevadans could soon see one of the biggest expansions of state government in modern history as Medicaid, a program that provides health care coverage to low-income residents, moves to cover more than 170,000 new enrollees by 2015.

With the bitter January cold weather in the Sierra behind us, we do have plenty of water frozen on our creeks, streams, rivers, ponds, lakes and reservoirs. And that ice covering provides an excellent opportunity to catch fish.
Ice fishing is a unique sport that requires a whole different set of fishing techniques, gear and clothing, as opposed to lazy fishing on a warm, drowsy day in the middle of the summer. Recently, the Carson City District Attorney’s Office was made aware of a potentially misleading solicitation from U S Telecom sweeping the country.

U S Telecom sends a solicitation for telecom services to local municipalities, school districts, and businesses. Although not stamped with the word “invoice,” the document appears to be an invoice and municipalities, school districts, and companies have complained of being duped into paying U S Telecom $425 for what these entities later complain is little or nothing in return.

CARSON CITY – Workers compensation insurance premiums will go up slightly for many Nevada employers this year, the state's Division of Insurance reports.

The average premium increase in the voluntary market will be about 1.1 percent. Nevada employers who purchase their workers’ compensation insurance in the assigned risk market will see an average increase of 2.5 percent. Both increases will take effect on March 1, 2013.
