A Carson City woman will receive a service dog thanks to the The Milk-Bone brand and Sam’s Club.
The two companies joined forces to provide Carrie Henrichsen, a staff attorney with Nevada Legal Services, the service dog through the nonprofit organization Canine Assistants.

UPDATE 1:40PM: The Nevada Highway Patrol has provided more details in the fatal hit and run on Highway 50 in Carson City that left a 27-year-old woman dead in a pedestrian collision on Sunday night.

UPDATE 10:38AM: A 48-year-old Dayton woman was arrested and faces a felony charge of leaving the scene of a hit and run causing death following the Sunday night fatality of a woman on Highway 50 in Carson City.

Cynthia Ann Munroe is free on $10,000 bail following the incident in which she is the suspected driver in the pedestrian hit and run, authorities said. She was driving a black 1999 Ford Explorer, authorities said. The fatal was reported shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday night. The name of the woman killed has not been released.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has many employees. That one of them did not comply with the income tax laws is easy to imagine.

However, in the case of Jacynthia Quinn, Tax Court Memo 2012-178, the IRS employee was a tax compliance officer. She claimed dependency exemptions, medical expenses and charitable contributions that the Court found she was not entitled to claim.

Apparently the court testimony by others contradicted the taxpayer’s claim she was not aware of the documentation and other tax law requirements.

UPDATE: Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies are investigating shots fired at a vehicle at around 10:15 p.m. Saturday. The incident happened near the area of Eagle Valley Market, in the 900 block of Woodside Drive.

A bullet was reported to have hit nearby Fitzhenry's Funeral Home in the 3900 block of Fairview Drive, according to patrol officers investigating the scene.

A vehicle was said to have shattered glass following an incident involving two vehicles in which rocks were thrown and shots fired during a dispute between the occupants inside two vehicles, authorities said.

The Reno Gazette-Journal's Mark Robison, who authors the "Fact Checker" blog, looks into the claim that the Bureau of Land Management was justified in removing a family of wild horses off Deer Run Road near Carson City.

Earlier this year, Leon Thomas — the BLM’s new Sierra Front field manager — ordered the removal of 11 horses near Deer Run Road. Some were sent to a Colorado ranch; eight are up for auction Saturday. That much is agreed upon, nearly everything else is in dispute.

NV Energy customers in the area of Stewart, John and Fall streets were without power early Saturday evening after a transformer blew. Power was to be restored by 6 p.m., NV Energy tells the Carson City Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were doing traffic control operations at Stewart Street and William because of traffic signals not functioning.

A rollover on Friday night five miles east of Dayton has left one dead and two hospitalized, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office reports.
George Lawrence Ambrose, 21, of Dayton died at the scene of the accident, officers said. The crash, happened around 11:15 p.m. on Ft. Churchill Road.

The following is the Carson City road construction and maintenance report for the week of March 18-24: Snyder Avenue is closed between E. Roland Street and Center Drive because of continued construction of the Carson City Freeway project.

This portion of Snyder Avenue will remain closed for approximately nine months to allow for the construction of a bridge. Center Drive and Silver Sage Drive are also closed south of Appion Way. Bennett Avenue is closed between Center Drive and Bigelow Drive.
