Nine people were rescued Saturday after their boat took on water and flipped over near Dollar Point in Lake Tahoe, the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office reports.

Lt. Pete Van Arnum said El Dorado County Sheriff’s boat unit and the U.S. Coast Guard responded to a report of a vessel taking on water near Dollar Point in Lake Tahoe at around 2 p.m.

The beautiful back lawn of the Nevada Governor's Mansion is the site of the Carson City Symphony's 29th annual Pops Party concert on Sunday, June 9, at 3:00 p.m. The program, "At the Movies," features the Carson City Symphony, Carson City Symphony Chorus, Youth Strings, and guest singer Jakki Ford. Grounds open and pre-concert entertainment by the Symphony Flutes begins at 2 p.m. Admission is free.

Here is the Carson City area road construction and maintenance report for the week of Monday, May 27 through June 2. Curry Street will be closed Monday from Robinson Street to Spear Street due to a special event.

Meanwhile during the week, there will be road work on Long Street between Roop Street and Molly Drive. No delays are expected. There will also be road work on Nye Lane between Hot Springs Road and Northgate Lane. No delays are expected.

Utility work for various projects will occur on the following roads this week with flagger controlled traffic and possible minor delays:

UPDATE: A vehicle chase in Carson City on Saturday afternoon involving a stolen car ended with a crash at Highway 50 and Fairview and two injured being air lifted by Care Flight. A third person was taken by ambulance. All three have non life-threatening injuries, Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong confirmed.

Two Care Flight helicopters landed on Highway 50 and took two of the injured to Renown Medical Center in Reno. Two suspects in a Mazda Miata that was reported stolen out of Sparks, crashed into an unsuspecting vehicle occupied by a woman, Sheriff Furlong said.

UPDATE: A fire on the roof of Catus Jack's Senator Casino in downtown Carson City this morning is believed to have been caused by a bird's nest that touched electrical wiring, fire officials said.

The fire, reported shortly after 8 a.m. forced evacuation of the casino, located at 420 North Carson Street. The fire did not penetrate the famed Howdy sign, but did ignite and smolder around an electrical box which seeped into the roof, said Carson City Fire Department Battalion Chief Eric Bero.

Boaters planning to launch at Lake Tahoe over Memorial Day Weekend are reminded to arrive at one of five watercraft inspection stations clean, drained and dry in order to get through the inspection process and out on the water more quickly.

All boats entering Lake Tahoe without a Lake Tahoe wire inspection seal are required to go through a mandatory inspection and purchase an inspection sticker as part of the public, private, multi-agency effort to protect Lake Tahoe from aquatic invasive species (AIS).
